Aribex Begins Customer Shipments of New NOMAD Pro Handheld X-ray

OREM, UTAH—11 July 2008—Aribex, Inc., a world leader in handheld X-ray technologies, today announced the first shipments of the new NOMAD® Pro X-ray system.

The NOMAD Pro extends the company’s battery-powered handheld platform by introducing a full-color LCD display screen, preset exposure settings, and additional time-saving features in a smaller, sleeker, and lighter design.

“The demand for our handheld X-ray systems is increasing dramatically,” said D. Clark Turner, PhD, president and CEO of Aribex, Inc. “We’re sure this new NOMAD Pro will fill a need in the marketplace and become a staple in dental offices everywhere.”

The device is designed for general purpose dental use and is ideal for use with children, sedated patients, or special needs patients. Weighing just five and a half pounds, the NOMAD Pro can easily be used in the office and then taken to the hospital, nursing home, or any location for treatment at the point-of-care.

With the NOMAD Pro, the technician stays right next to the patient, positions the device and simply takes the radiograph. This saves time for the operator, shortens the time the patient has to sit still with film or a sensor in their mouth, and reduces retakes. The device’s rechargeable battery gives hundreds of diagnostic-quality radiographs with a single charge.

Cleared by the FDA for marketing in the U.S., the NOMAD Pro incorporates modern internal shielding to block radiation leakage and a backscatter shield to protect the operator from X-rays scattered from the patient.
