New York State Accepts Registration of NOMAD Handheld X-ray
OREM, UTAH—19 May 2009—Aribex, Inc., of Orem, Utah, today announced that their NOMAD® Handheld X-ray System has been accepted for registration by the New York State Department of Health. New York is the 41st state to accept registration of the NOMAD for dental use.
Doug Harding, Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs for Aribex, believes this latest action by the New York State Department of Health will provide dentists the value they need for their conventional offices as well as provide access to care for those who would not otherwise receive it.
“We’re very pleased that the state of New York has taken this action, because handheld radiography is an important factor in bringing the highest level of dental care to its citizens,” said Harding.
Applicants desiring to use the NOMAD must receive a variance for handheld use prior to using the device. A New York state variance request form will be supplied to the dentists by Aribex or one of their representatives. This variance request form must be included with the x-ray registration.
NOMAD handheld x-ray devices have revolutionized the way intraoral dental x-rays are taken. The internal and external shielding of the NOMAD allows the unit to be used chairside with the patient, without having to leave the room, as with conventional x-ray devices. Instead, the operator stays with the patient to comfort and control children, those who may be anxious, and special needs patients. This greatly reduces the number of retakes and improves efficiency in the operatory.
Because of its small size and rechargeable nature, the NOMAD Pro can be easily used by dental professionals in or out of the usual dental office setting, making it perfect for humanitarian, nursing home, or other remote use. Since it can be used even in locations without electrical power, the NOMAD helps provide access to care for patients who in many cases would be left untreated.
